Prop. 36 Architect and Yolo County DA Jeff Reisig Endorses Steve Hilton for Governor of California
SACRAMENTO, CA — Steve Hilton’s campaign for Governor of California today announced the endorsement of Jeff Reisig—the architect of Proposition 36, Yolo County District Attorney, and one of the state’s most respected leaders in fighting crime. Reisig, a career prosecutor, cited Prop. 36’s focus on accountability and treatment as a model for the kind of tough, common-sense reform Hilton is committed to delivering.
“Steve Hilton understands what too many in Sacramento have forgotten: that fighting crime is the foundation of a functioning society,” said District Attorney Jeff Reisig. “He has the courage to challenge the status quo and the common sense to know that true justice means protecting victims, holding offenders accountable, and delivering help to those battling addiction and mental illness. That’s the leadership California needs right now.”
Reisig has served as District Attorney of Yolo County since 2007, making him one of the longest-serving district attorneys in the state. Over his nearly three decades in prosecution, he has pioneered a tough-on-crime approach rooted in accountability, data transparency, and rehabilitation.
Steve Hilton praised Reisig as “one of California’s most respected law enforcement leaders, whose work on Prop. 36 produced the most significant positive change on fighting crime and chaos on our streets for a generation.”
“I have hugely appreciated Jeff’s thoughtful, expert advice, especially in the preparation of Golden Together’s policy report ‘Fighting Crime: Certainty of Punishment, Certainty of Rehabilitation,’” Hilton said. “Jeff has not only delivered real reform, he’s shown how to lead with integrity, facts, and results. I am honored to have his support and look forward to our continued work together to help make California’s communities safer.”
